Happy Families is a series of large drawings (5ft x 4ft) that were exhibited at Coventry Polytechnic synchronically with the Dirty Tricks [see following section] exhibition at the Herbert Gallery and Museum, Coventry in 1984.
Most of the images go outside the traditional characters in the artless card game. We have a Mother, Father and Baby, but also The Man Next Door, A Zit Faced Boy, Teddy Boys, A Juvenile Delinquent, A Man Called Sue and the Impossible Lovers.
In these works Yeadon extends his approach to drawing, influenced by primitive, untutored drawing, the inarticulate, gauche, botched drawings and the 'good' bad life drawings of some of his students. Drawings that make him laugh. 1983
