The 'Umbrella Stand' was created 30 years earlier as an absurd object whilst still a student at Hornsey College of Art in 1968, [constructed at home in Burnley during the 'lock out']. This series of prints is a 'bestiary' of furniture, a list of species and types of things. Juxtaposing found objects - a reading stand with a dumb waiter, a fire screen stands like a painting on a stick with a music stand and a bookcase, titled 'Image, Music and Text', as an homage to Barthes, whilst a large table top resembles a Rothko, another table a Mandala. 1999
