These are the first of Yeadon's photographic works that stand in their own right as photographs and not just as preparatory photography or source material for painting.
This series of photographs is seemingly the most 'aesthetic' and untroubled of his production; however, many are awkward and unexpected, and the idea of photographing the back of someone’s head as a portrait is ironic if not subversive, on a par with 'the world turned upside down'.
